A twisting polygonal home on Lake Zurich

On a wooded site overlooking Lake Zurich, Harry Gugger Studio responds to the unique natural context and sheer slope with Thalwil House, a home of precise shapes. Polygonal in shape, the split levels and extrusions of the house respond to the steep topography all around it, embedding it comfortably in its pristine natural context. The façade and building levels are staggered at every turn, taking on a different appearance from every aspect.

The three-level home boasts bay windows integrated with the façade. A generous staircase with short flights of stairs creates a natural spatial context and makes maximum use of the plot, all while creating an open and diverse interior experience. An outdoor terrace extends the usable space.

Positioned on the top floor, the kitchen blends in with the building’s unique geometry. Marble is paired with a light green kitchen unit for a refined, airy feel. V-ZUG appliances are at its heart, including a CombiSteamer V6000 and CombiCookTop V4000, with sleek induction cooking and an integrated extractor fan to ensure open views and an uncluttered design.

“The idea behind the cooking island was to always cook facing the open space and the viewpoints.” Harry Gugger Studio
