A dialogue between inside and out in Belgium

Hulpia Architecten, led by Dirk Hulpia, set about enhancing the dialogue with nature when designing this home, located near Ghent. As such, all the living spaces can be found on the ground floor, connecting them to the lush garden surrounds through large windows. The new addition is positioned centrally on the plot to capture views on the north and south sides, with old trees serving as focal points.

The home balances privacy with open, light-filled spaces that engage with the landscape and elevate the living experience. To heighten this further, Dirk combined traditional construction with modern materials, such as glass and Afrormosia wood – allowing the house to blend with nature.

Just as the materiality in this home was chosen for its longevity and harmony with the environment, V-ZUG’s durable, high-performance appliances were selected to align with the architectural vision. The distinct mirror glass fronts of V-ZUG’s CombiSteamer V6000 and Combair V6000 reflect the interior’s minimalist aesthetic, echoing the expanses of glazing that look out to the garden.

"In this project, every detail, from the V-ZUG appliances to the relationship between indoor and outdoor spaces, reflects our commitment to design and durability.” Dirk Hulpia, architect
